Is it better to squeeze visitors for a name and email address before you hand over their free gift?
In my opinion, it depends on how bad you want them to have whatever gift you are offering them.
It’s common knowledge that the less information you ask for, the better response you will get. So with that logic in mind, isn’t it safe to assume that asking for nothing will produce the most takers?
In the case of the page you will see if you click the image, I want as many people to read my free report as I can get, no matter if they ever talk to me again. My thinking is, if I do a good enough job with the report, they will seek me out, or at least remember me the next time they see one of my ads.
So there you go, are you going to make them like you by forcing them to provide details reluctantly, or let them have what you have for them with no strings attached and see if they take the next step on their own?
